Polar Wind

A leaf dances
autumn’s requiem
as polar wind’s talons
pierce scarves
slipping into crevices;
valiant sun retreats
in a lemon haze.

A sickle moon
rises, a brittle
salute to the howl
sweeping meridians.

  1. autumn’s requiem… great sound to that phrase. Nice touch having the taloned wind pierce scarves. Very well crafted poem

  2. very beautifully written, your imagery and sensitive delicate descriptions…as i am still caught up in the ‘lemon haze’…

so special to be aware of the aspects of life which are not man made…the very essence of breathing in life all around us…

please send me some cool air…the temps where i live are about to reach well over 100 degrees…

    a lovely poem you’ve written…beautifully worded…

    sincerely,

  3. This is beautiful, marousia. Your poetry always seems a bit dreamlike to me, never more so than this. I always think yellow is more truly the color of autumn than the red people like to talk about, that lemon haze everywhere. I’m glad for a chance to read about the cool as we bake and fry here, and promise to do the same for you when the time comes.

  4. A haunting poem, in the best of ways…the imagery is strong and carries the poem without a stumble.

    I love this….

  5. When we have the cold
Warm is all we wish were foretold
    But when we have heat
We wish for cold as a treat
    Either way we’re beat
So may as well just take a seat

  6. a lovely piece of poetry marousia i so enjoy reading this imagery is always so visual almost a painting ! lol lovely thankq for sharing with the beez alwayz :*)

added a line break to give the room for a breath to take it in. Like the aanimal attributes used.

  8. This is absolutely lovely, incredible soft imagery that guides the eye from line to line. The stanza break is a wise choice, allowing a mini pause before continuing and improving the readability of the poem. I don’t see anything that I could suggest for improvement. I thoroughly enjoyed reading your poem. Thank you for the opportunity to give it a critical glance. An absolute pleasure.
