Night of Delicious Scares

Halloween: shadows,
ghosts and monsters roam.
The veil is thin
Between the realms.
Innocents don
Bravura masks
And talismans
Assembling  in
Giggling
Squealing
Shrieking
Processions
To brave the dark.
Pumpkins carved,
Crooked smiles,
Gauntlets thrown,
Trick or Treat,
Mocking nightmares.
Horror stories,
Apples bobbing,
Children hoping
For delicious scares.

  1. powerful imagery,

    Innocents don
    Bravura masks
    And talismans
    Assembling in
    Giggling
    Squealing
    Shrieking
    Processions…

a real sense of Halloween celebration.
    Cheers,

  2. Sound like you probably thoroughly enjoyed Halloween this year….Good for you! Lots of great thoughts here I especially liked the Bravura Masks! Peace be with you.

  3. I find it intriguing that after reading so many Halloween poems, I ask why is it that humans like to be scared out of their wits? Don’t suppose there’s an answer to that question. Very nice Halloween piece. 🙂

  4. hehehe…. this was too good! Spooky with a childlike touch to it – that’s what made it sooo enjoyable to read!
    “The veil is thin
Between the realms.” — particularly loved these lines! Made the darkness appear ever more dark!!
