The Maiden and Eros II

Eros smells blood in her veins.
Viscous sweetness threatens
To overwhelm his restraint
But he is patient.
He caresses her jaw gently
Tracing the bone underneath.
Stroking her pulse,
He outlines her lips.

Maiden’s on fire,
Her lips swell in response
To the touch of exquisite cool
Hard smooth fingers.
Eros kisses her throat,
She feels the tip of his tongue,
Dry, cold drawing spirals
On the nape of her neck.

Her heart quickens
Beating an urgent tattoo.
Her eyes flutter
Unfocused, enchanted.
Her skin seems to melt
Into the air
And an orange serpent
Uncoils in her spine.
